
Glamping - yurt raising for the Art Retreat
Once the land was purchased and the dream was on its way to being realized, we built a platform and raised a yurt to stay in while we built the straw bale retreat. As we needed to raise this in the winter, we had to bring all materials over by boat, yurt skylight included (awkward), load them on our 8 year old son's wagon, and pull it down the snow road to the site. It was a bit of a challenge but resulted in a cozy yurt that we've spent many nights in, while building the Art

Why build an Artist Retreat?
Life being hectic with two young kids, work and family life, I started dreaming about creating an Artist Retreat...a place that is removed from daily life. A place to live creative dreams. Artist's retreats can happen anywhere, they have been around as far back as Thoreau's cabin on Walden Pond. The main focus of an art retreat is to nurture creativity. Canoeing one day with my husband, two kids and dog, we came upon a place, a perfect place to explore, build, create and shar
