Built with green building techniques, and sustainability in mind, the Arts Centre was built using straw bale building, with passive solar, radiant heat, and thick plaster walls that keep the space cool in the summer & warm in the winter. It is partially bermed into the earth, has on demand hot water, wood stove, and FSC certified wood post and beam. The studio is equipped with a venting exhaust system. Re-use and recycled materials are used throughout with an emphasis on minimal waste.

The Residence includes shared living room, kitchen, bedrooms, and washroom (shower only). Artists in residence are encouraged to bring items to make the living space accommodate their personal needs (pack lightly as travel is by boat). The Residence has one room with double bed, one loft room, with single bed. There are also two sleeping pods with single beds - they are comfortable, clean and situated in the common space. *The retreat itself sleeps 5 people in shared rooms, with the option of using the yurt for additional sleeping (4 max). There is a large outdoor deck for summer use (meals and meetings). It is a short walk to the lake in the summer for a swim and to the boat dock. The kitchen is provisioned with the basics (eco friendly detergent, dishwasher, range, condiments, tea, coffee etc...). Linens and towels are provided (please bring beach towels). Laundry facilities are available for longer use stays.
