Erica Konrad is an interdisciplinary artist based in Nelson, British Columbia, on the traditional lands of the Sinixt, Ktunaxa and Syilx peoples. Passionate about fostering creative spaces, Erica has built the Narrows Art Retreat to provide artists and creatives with a rejuvenating escape from the pressures of daily life. Her dedication to supporting and nurturing artistic connections is at the heart of the residency experience.

With a university background in environmental studies, Erica draws deeply from the natural world in her art. Largely self-taught, she has enriched her practice through international workshops in encaustic techniques and mixed media. Her work spans various disciplines, including installation art, where she explores the interplay of textures and mediums to push the boundaries of her creativity.

Erica’s artistic journey is closely intertwined with her commitment to sustainable living. Alongside her family, she has designed and built straw bale eco-homes, reflecting her dedication to green building, local food systems, and community-driven initiatives. She is also an advocate for environmental and social causes, which often informs the themes and materials in her artwork.
While running the Narrows, Erica maintains an active studio practice, producing works for both public and private collections, continuously evolving her approach as an artist and curator of creative spaces.
