Bio of Wildlife Photographer Lisa Jo Roden: "For me, the most exciting words in the English Language are Wildlife and Nature. Contained within those words are the answer to any human ailment, I believe.
The closer I am to nature, the more alive I feel. I started life in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles and while I saw people flocking toward LA in search of their destiny, I found myself running away from it. The further I got, the more my purpose came into view.
My purpose is to be an animal ally, to witness the ways in which human interaction is harming animals and to build my life to co-exist in better ways. Working with the Tucson Wildlife Center, I saw snakes stuck to glue traps, owls dying from consuming poisoned mice, eagles sick from eating prey shot with lead bullets and birds striking large glass windows, all situations that have alternative solutions. To arrive at those solutions, we must think beyond ourselves and what is most convenient to us versus how it will play out for all creatures involved."
As a wildlife photographer, I have captured stories of rescues, recoveries and releases and shared them with my community. I hope to build reverence toward wildlife and ideas on how to best co-exist with each other."
