Carlen Lavigne is a media communications scholar who specializes in pop culture and critical media studies, with a particular focus on gender and sexuality. Lavigne is interested in "the cyclical influences between culture and industry, and in what our fictions can tell us about ourselves and the society in which we live."
Lavigne is an author of Post-Apocalyptic Patriarchy (McFarland, 2018) and Cyberpunk Women, Feminism and Science Fiction (McFarland, 2013), the editor of Remake Television (Lexington, 2014), and the co-editor of American Remakes of British Television (Lexington, 2011). Her academic work has been published in journals including Cinema Journal, Canadian Review of American Studies, and Journal of Popular Television.
Lavigne is an active scholar who "believes wholeheartedly in the importance of critical media approaches and popular culture studies."
