The NARROWS Art Retreat
Andy Davies is a sculptor of public space. From ephemeral water drawings to permanent public sculpture, Davies adores the politics and personality of the public domain. Davies has been an Artist in Residence at the Narrows, first as a shared Residency in 2022 and again for a private Residency in summer 2023.
Practicing across discplines, Davies was in Residence at the Narrows as a writer, kicking off his book writing project. His time at the residence was spent visioning, creative brainstorming, plot and character development, story boarding, and doing research for the young adult fiction book he is currently writing.
Formally trained by the intensive art program at Red Deer College, Davies graduated at the top of his class with a B.F.A. / B.Ed. from the University of Lethbridge in 2009. Since then, he has maintained an active practice with a focus on art in public spaces. He has five major public commissions in Alberta, Ontario, and B.C., as well as various solo and group exhibitions to his credit. Davies is based in Lethbridge, Alberta.
